Sir Edmund Hillary Collegiate Founded 2002

Sir Edmund Hillary Collegiate is a fully co educational multi cultural state school, with a total roll of 1200 boys and girls. Students who attend Sir Edmund Hillary Collegiate can attend classes from Year 1 through to Year 13. The majority of students are Maori, Samoan, Tongan, Cook Island Maori and Niuean. The richness of our collegiate cultures is celebrated throughout the year. The Collegiate is located in Otara, South Auckland. In 2002 three schools, Clydemore Primary School, Bairds Intermediate School and Hillary College joined and officially became Sir Edmund Hillary Collegiate. On May 29 at 11.30 am 2004 the Collegiate was officially opened by Sir Edmund Hillary and Prime Minister Helen Clarke. This was a very significant day and time as it was the day and time Sir Ed reached the top of Mt Everest. Sir Edmund Hillary Collegiate is a school emphasising academic achievement within a caring and supportive learning community. The campus facilities include attractive native landscaped environments, horticultural area, computer centres( all students have free access to email and internet), an extended state of the art library, a large modern gymnasium, fitness centre and dance centre and playing fields and tennis courts. It also has a comprehensive health centre, canteen and state of the art technology centre. |
